Within an Arm's Reach of Desire
Robert Woodruff wanted to put Coca-Cola "within arm's reach of desire". Throughout the world, no matter how remote the place, I've always been able to find two things: Chinese food, and Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola exists to refresh the world, spread happiness and to make people money.
Many years ago, I was on a hike in rural China, outside of Guilin. The hike was to the top of a rock formation with a hole through it that looked like the moon. Two elderly women followed me and my colleague John up the mountain. They were carrying baskets with cold drinks, which we declined to buy at the bottom of the mountain. What seemed like hours later though, after huffing and puffing our way up, those ladies correctly guessed that we'd pay anything for cold Coca-Colas, and charged us double the price offered at the bottom!
Coca-Cola is available in over 200 countries (all except for North Korea and Iran, though my friend Dan went to North Korea and sent me back a photo of a Coke with his dinner). Here are some others I've found:
Zimbabwe
Salesmen near Victoria Falls. They were also sold out of Coke so I bought a Sprite instead.
Marrakech
Local game using Coke, Fanta and Bonaqua glass bottles.
Hawaii
All natural, new local product - coconut water! As seen at the Hilton Hawaiian Village food court. The other Coke cooler had pineapples in it.
