Julefrokost at the Hyldebrandts

Smoked fish, ten bottles of aquavit, singing and friends... Julefrokost is annual Danish holiday celebration at Max and Mikkel's that we look forward to every year.  The menu is set, and the guest list is a rotating group of colleagues, friends and neighbors of the Hyldebrandts'. I met Max and Mikkel at a party years ago thrown by my friend Sigrid (pictured below right).  My favorite part of Julefrokost is the speeches, which get more sentimental as the evening goes on, and more shots of aquavit are consumed.  

Pass the curried herring, please...
