Mexico City

In February, right after Valentine’s Day, Norm had planned a trip with his family because he had heard of discounted flights leaving from Tijuana to Mexico City, one of the few capital cities I’d never visited. He hadn’t counted on the extra time it would take for being the President’s Day holiday or his flight back being cancelled. Angela Brown and I decided to tag along at the last minute. To get from the Mexico City airport to the Le Meridian Hotel, one could take a hotel car for $75, a yellow taxi for $15, or an Uber for $5. Which do you think we did?

In spite of Ryan’s nosebleed at dinner, Cameron puking after the car ride to the Teotihuacan and getting ripped off by the tour guide service, we really enjoyed the food and art scene in Mexico City. Cameron and Ryan enjoyed meeting Miss Angela, who definitely had more energy than I did in going around to the sites.

We arrived back on February 19th, right as the news of COVID 19 in Wuhan was getting started. It was to be one of the last trips we’d take for awhile. Mike was home in LA that weekend with a weird flu, the 2nd one he’d had this season.
